THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

Is a photo series about an educational project for kids based in the south of Portugal. The experience was supervised by Nicolas - owner of the piece of land called ‘Vale Amado’. On the grounds of Vale Amado the children get an idea of what it takes to live an off-grid life from a forest school perspective. Forest school uses nature as a means to build independence and self-esteem in children and young adults. Topics are the role of trees in society, the complex ecosystem supported by a wilderness, and recognition of specific plants and animals. However, personal skills are considered highly valuable, such as teamwork and problem solving.
